School of Energy and Environment    

The School of Energy and Environment consists of the Department of Energy & Power Engineering, the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering and an experimental center. It enrolls now about950 undergraduate students, 120 master candidates, has a total staff of 66, among them 10 are professors including four distinguished visiting professors, 14associate professors, and 32with PhDs, a Provincial Talent Team, a Provincial Academic Leader, a Provincial Talent ofthe2nd type, two Provincial Talents ofthe3rdtype, a Wanjiang Scholar, 2 Provincial Academic Leaders, an Academic Leader candidate, a Provincial Famous Teacher and 2 Provincial Teaching New Talents.

The School offers three undergraduate majors: Energy and Power Engineering, Environmental Engineering as well as Environmental Protection Equipment Engineering, with the privilege of granting state first-grade master degrees of thermal power engineering & engineering heat physics, environmental science & engineering, master of engineering and master of professional. Moreover, the school owns one State Excellent Engineer specialty, one provincial characteristic specialty, one state characteristic specialty, two provincial key disciplines and one Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education.

The School focuses on improving the quality of teaching and research, has established a series of stable bases for practicing teaching with Baosteel, Maanshan steel, Nanjing steel, Jinan Iron and Steel Group, Municipal Administration of Maanshan, Huaqi environmental technology company, etc. During the past five years, the School has received 21 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 7 key projects from the Ministry of Science & Technology Pillar Program, more than 20 provincial projects, and 200 strong cooperate-supported research projects. The research funding reaches 35 million Yuan and more than 300 papers are published including more than 100 SCI/EI/ISTP. The school has been granted more than 30 patents of invention, one 2ndaward in State Technological Invention, one 1staward in Anhui Provincial Technological Invention, as well as 10 other provincial and ministerial awards, and published6academic monographs or textbooks.

The school has established extensive academic communications with domestic and foreign famous universities and research institutes, invited well-known experts and professors as our guest professors. Our corporation partners include Purdue University, University of Iowa and Rutgers University in US, Northeastern University in Japan, Delft University in Netherland, and University of Science and Technology Beijing, Northeastern University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, etc. Ministry of Education approved our jointed culture of Master candidates with Purdue University, Calumet Campus of US. The school is rich in academic activities, hosted 2014 the 2ndcongress of Fuel furnace Committee & Simulation and Control Board, CMES; 2016 Combustion Annual Meeting of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics.

Our school is the only training base for nourishing talents in metallurgy and environmental engineering in East China for various vocations. Our graduates are generally well equipped with sound theoretical bases and strong hands-on abilities. Their excellent quality is well welcomed by the employment markets and their employers. Many graduates have grown into scholars or experts in relative fields.
